The Museum of Occupation and Freedom Fights is divided in to few parts: exhibits in the upper two floors collects and displays documents, artifacts honoring the victims of the Holocaust in Lithuania during Nazi occupation, exhibits dedicated to the tragedies and turmoil in Lithuania during the Soviet Union’s 50-year occupation of the country. This is not a museum of victims only – it also presents other topics, including freedom fighters, dissidents, it tells about expressions and impact of the occupational regime.

In the basement of the museum building, visitors can visit an old preserved prison, which was left by the KGB guards in 1991. The padded cells, solitary confinement rooms, the execution chamber were used as rooms for the duty officers, fingerprinting, solitary confinement and torturing.
