Om denne aktiviteten
Meet your local representative, who will serve as your private guide, in your hotel lobby, and begin your "Mumbai Darshan" with a visit to the iconic Gateway of India, standing proudly by the Arabian Sea. A great example of the architectural glory of Mumbai, the Gateway of India's foundation was laid in 1911 to welcome King George V and Queen Mary on their visit to India. Designed in the Indo Saracenic style, this spectacular monument also bears Muslim and Gujarati architectural styles from the 16th century. Behind the Gateway is the Taj Mahal Hotel, an iconic Mumbai landmark in itself. From the Gateway, we head to The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the terminal point of the Central Railways of India. Built in Victorian Gothic Revival architecture, the terminus, formerly known as Victoria Terminus, is an important UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mumbai is known for its two life-lines; the local trains and the dabbawallas. So we head to Churchgate station to meet these famous tiffin delivery men, known to use six sigma techniques, to deliver hot lunch meals, to the working class of Mumbai. The dabbawalas are known for their immaculate system of picking up lunchboxes in the morning, delivering them by trains and bicycles and returning them by noon. Next, we drive through the famous Nariman Point, and the chill-out zone of every Mumbaikar, Chowpatty, all the way to the posh Malabar Hills locality, to visit the splendid green Hanging Garden, known famously for its "Boot House" or "old woman’s shoe". Our final stop for the day is the Mani Bhavan Sangrahalaya or the Gandhi Museum. It is here that Gandhiji learnt to spin the 'charkha'. Mani Bhavan served as his home for 14 years, from where he initiated at least six political movements. We then drop you to your hotel where your tour concludes.
