Om denne aktiviteten

The Celtic Tour along Ireland’s Ancient East brings you to the historically significant Boyne valley situated in County Meath - the Royal County - from where the ancient High Kings of Ireland ruled.

You'll travel to The Hill of Tara, which is best known for having been the royal residence of the ancient High Kings that ruled Ireland in Celtic times and beyond. It is said that a quarter of Ireland’s landscape can be seen from this hill. Take in this spectacular vista before heading to Trim Castle, the best preserved, most impressive example of Anglo-Norman castles in Ireland. It offers a spectacular insight into the lives and traditions of the people from the middle ages.

You will then be taken to Loughcrew Cairns, ancient burial tombs which housed the remains of great chieftains of the time. Loughcrew is a passage tomb built about 3200BC which has some of the best-preserved stone carvings in Ireland. Entering this tomb is an exciting step back in time. After Lunch, your visit will continue to Fore Abbey, as monastery founded by St Fechin in the 7th Century. It’s believed that before his death, 300 monks lived in the community. The area is famous for its seven wonders which include the monastery in the bog, the mill without a race, the water that flows uphill, the tree that won’t burn and much more.

Finally, before being taken back to the capital, your day in the Celtic Valley will end with a visit to the ‘Hill of Uisneacht’ is the spiritual center of Ireland and arguably one of our most important ancient sites In Ireland today. The point at which the five provinces of Ireland met and where their Kings would celebrate the ‘festival of the fires’.
